This is the fifth year of Goat in the Road’s Play/Write Showcase, where professional actors perform plays written by fifth and sixth grade playwrights. On Monday, May 12, five local, professional and university theatre producers, Cripple Creek Theatre Co., Dillard University Theatre, NEW NOISE, Pamela Davis-Noland, and Skin Horse Theater, will perform plays written by students from St. Mary’s Academy, Success Preparatory Academy, and The International School of Louisiana. The performance is a celebration of the students’ work and a highly entertaining event for any theatre-goer of any age. As one would expect, when a professional team of artists stages a 10-year-old’s words, the results are often hilarious and inspiring.
