Orestes has just murdered his mother Clytemnestra, with his sister Electra as an accomplice. They committed matricide because Clytemnestra had arranged for the murder of her husband and Electra and Orestes’ father Agamemnon. Clytemnestra then defiled their father’s bed by marrying the man who physically murdered Agamemnon.
Six days after Clythemnestra's death, Orestes and Electra await a ruling on the type of execution they will receive. Will they be stoned to death or have their throats cut?
