Red Light Winter explores the human side of sexual obsession – a subject that our troop is maybe too interested in. This semi-autobiographical account of author Adam Rapp’s experiences in Amsterdam’s Red Light District follows the story of Matt: a suicidal playwright obsessed with and confused about love – Davis: Matt’s narcissistic and seemingly cruel (you decide) friend - and Christina, or Christine, or Annie: an American prostitute in Amsterdam pretending to be French. The three find themselves trapped in a destructive circle of sexual obsession in which Matt is in love with Christina, Christina is in love with Davis, and Davis loves nothing. As performers, artists, and people, we want to present this exposing and introspective piece. Rapp’s play is bold, fearless and unsettling, but worth every line.
