WHAT IS THIS ABOUT!?!?!?! My intentions for doing this production involve an experiment with long-form improvisation, and its value in the creative process. Through improvisational, as well as Meisner exercises and scene-study, I will guide my cast towards creating substantial characters with strong objectives, and building a meaningful plot-line with a beginning, middle and end. Focusing on the foundation of a story, the show’s script will be formed, rehearsed, and settled on for performance – leaving room for some improvisation, as well as possible audience participation.
The story and characters will remain the same, but each performance will be a unique work of art.
I'm doing this show to exhibit 3 things:
1. Long-form improvisation as a useful tool for the working actor, writer, director or human being. 2. The power of the human mind, and the importance of connection between two people. Also, how they work together to create a whole. 3. There is no such thing as a finished product when it comes to ART. There are only deadlines.
Say #3 to yourself over and over again.
A Work In Progress... revolves around a college improv troupe called, "The Troupe!" The story examines sibling rivalry, prejudice, homosexuality, loss of virginity, coping with death, religious beliefs and much much more.
Don't miss this! Its free!
