It's 1953 in Buffalo, and fading theatrical stars, George and Charlotte Hay, are touring with their small troupe playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in reparatory.
On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George's dalliance with an ingénue, one last shot at stardom arrives! Hollywood director, Frank Capra, is coming to see their matinee... will he cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel? A series of mixed-up messages creates comic mayhem and the hilarity begins!
