Things start to go wrong for the Ingrams when family matriarch Peggy turns up dead in a seedy motel room, inadvertently killed by her adulterous lover's wooden legs. For Peggy’s daughters, ethical questions spring up faster than crabgrass in a cow pasture, including whether to bury their mama in an expensive mink stole and whether they ought to have their Tammy Wynette-impersonating brother released from the state loony bin to attend the services. Things build to a fever-pitch, culminating in the gosh-darned funniest funeral you’re likely to attend this year!
Sordid Lives was written by Del Shores (author of Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will?) and stars Debbie Davis, Rob Thomas, Flynn De Marco, Maureen Brennan, Elizabeth Pearce, Brian Peterson, Rusty Tennant, Bill Dykes, Jim Jeske, Dorian Rush, and—making his first appearance with the company—the legendary Ricky Graham.
Sordid Lives runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 6:00pm from July 9 – August 1, 2004. Performances are at Le Chat Noir, located at 715 St. Charles Avenue, in the heart of downtown New Orleans, right on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line.
