Four Humours is proud to announce its official first production, a revival of Robert Patrick's Obie-winning classic, "Kennedy's Children." On Valentine's Day, 1974, there's gathered in a Lower East Side bar five strangers --a Vietnam vet, a would-be sex goddess, a radical activist, an off-Broadway actor, and a JFK-obsessed schoolteacher-- each to recount the course of their lives during the tumultuous '60s, the passions and mistakes that led them, individually and collectively, into an emptier decade that could never match what they had to leave behind. These lost souls don't address each other, not directly, yet have everything in the world to say to each other. And to an audience: Any play that examines its own time with such fearless specificity becomes universal.
"Kennedy's Children" is THE theatrical elegy for an unreproducible period of American history, a dark, luminous tone poem to fervor and ferment. To make it extra-special, the show is staged environmentally, at the Hi Ho Lounge on St. Claude. There will be no physical division between actor and audience in this cozy barroom... because we are, all of us, in this together.
