Over the years the boys’ tale has been sensationalized — but the dark truths behind the crime have never been told...until now. Multi-award winning Blank Theatre’s Artistic Director Daniel Henning researched two years before writing this world premiere; exploring the details of Dickie & Babe’s relationship and the reasons behind their bizarre crime. It is his first full-length play.
Drama Desk Award nominee Aaron Himelstein plays Nathan “Babe” Leopold & newcomer Nick Niven plays Richard “Dickie” Loeb. They are joined by 6 actors who play 35 different roles. Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) plays Allan Loeb, State’s Attorney Robert Crowe & others. 2007 Ovation Award Winner Vicki Lewis (News Radio, and The Blank’s Hotel C’est l’Amour) plays Florence Leopold, Susan Lurie & others, through March 30 and Stacy Reed (The Blank’s Lobster Alice) will take over those roles on April 3. Charlie Schlatter (Diagnosis Murder, 18 Again!) plays Alvin Goldstein, Dick Rubel & others. J. Richey Nash (The Blank’s Heads & Laguna’s Mr. Shaw Goes to Hollywood) is Hamlin Buchman, Dr. Patrick & others, Weston Blakesley (The Blank’s Missouri Waltz) plays Clarence Darrow & others and Caye Clark is Tommy Loeb, Bobby Franks & others.
