Lost Soda Productions makes its bow with romances in repertory, one new and one classic
New Orleans' newest theater company debuts with an original piece by a local playwright, The Health Benefits of Orange Soda, running in repertory with the Shakespeare classic Love's Labour's Lost. The shows share their casts and will be produced simultaneously at the Marigny Theatre August 6th through the 23rd.
Love's Labour's Lost director RYAN BRUCE has adapted the delightful romantic comedy into a fast-paced, eight-actor event. The Bard's tale involves the King of Navarre and his court, who swear off women for the sake of study only to discover that the Princess of France and her lovely ladies are due to arrive any minute. Once the men decide to woo the ladies in secret, letters get mixed up, disguises are donned, and love blooms out of perjury.
The Health Benefits of Orange Soda is a comedy about Guy, a man searching for answers after leaving his wife for complicated reasons. Guy turns to his friends, who seem to have more than their own share of problems. When his new love interest chooses to enter rehab and his best friend starts seducing his step-mom-to-be, Guy's troubles only begin. JOSH SIMPSON directs this original piece by JARED GORE.
The casts include Ryan Bruce, JESSICA COOK, CORY DUMENSIL, REBECCA LaBORDE, PAUL LEINGANG, MICHAEL MARTIN, CRISTINA HATHEWAY, Josh Simpson, MONICA TINOCO, and MARGUERITE WHITE.
Lost Soda Production Company, the newest theater company in New Orleans, is managed by University of New Orleans Alumni and dedicated to providing the New Orleans community with unique and diverse productions that explore the artistic challenges and benefits of repertory production.
