Judy Latour began her career as a professional dancer, performing across the country and at The Lincoln Center for the Arts during the late 1960's. In the 1970's she returned to New Orleans and was chosen by Luis Barroso to become part of his production staff responsible for creating an era of shows now referred to as The Golden Age of Children's Corner at Le Petit Theatre. In the 1980's Judy and Harry Mayronne, Jr. created Palmetto Productions, a convention entertainment business which employed the best New Orleans talents for over a decade, and set the standard for the industry locally. She also booked New Orleans talents around the world, frequently touring with John Boutte, Lillian Boutte, Wanda Rouzan, and L'il Queenie. Offstage, Judy was a revered member of The Society of St. Ann, one of the most photographed walking krewes in the city. Her continued support and involvement in the krewe is commemorated on the St. Ann website. Judy's sudden death from an aortic rupture in 1996 stunned the community. Her memorial service in the Faubourg Marigny was well-attended by her fans and former perfomers. As is the tradition of the krewe, Judy's ashes were 'cut loose' the following Mardi Gras by her friends and family.
