A graduate of New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), Scalise is a professional, award-winning young actor who has developed an affinity for the works of the great playwrights, particularly those of Shakespeare. He has also studied at the British American Drama Academy at Oxford University, where he trained under members of the Royal Shakespeare Company and England's National Theater, at the Paddy Crean International Stage Combat Program in Edinburgh, Scotland, and in New Orleans with The Shakespeare Festival at Tulane and Southern Rep theatre. Taking some of his first steps onstage with the progressive, urban youth theatre group, Summer Stages, Scalise later spent seven years working with the renowned Dog & Pony Theatre Company / New Orleans' Shakespeare in the Park under the mentorship of artistic director John Grimsley. Becoming a community leader and organizer, he created "NOPA," the popular New Orleans Performing Arts online network, and was also elected to the directing boards of the Dog & Pony Theatre Company, the Storer Boone Awards Committee and the NOCCA Alumni Association. Scalise currently resides in Austin, Texas, acting and teaching for Austin Shakespeare and Austin's Scottish Rite Theatre.
