The NORD/Crescent City Lights Youth Theater is reviving composer-lyricist Elizabeth Swados' hip-hop musical "The Red Sneaks" (based on "The Red Shoes") July 20 to 28 at NORD's Ty Tracy Theatre in Gallier Hall. The group gave the show its local premiere in 1989. This time, under the direction of J Hammons, vocal director-founder Julie Condy and choreographer Maritza Mercado-Narcisse, the 19-member teenage cast has added its own post-Katrina experiences to the musical. Featured are Diamond Butler, Tyler Chetta and Harold Jenkins.
