Badu-Izms: A Tribute to Erykah – A Feature in the New Orleans Fringe Festival.

New Orleans, Louisiana-October 2, 2009 – Playwright Pamela Davis-Noland is featuring her latest body of work entitled Badu-Izms: A Tribute to Erykah at this year’s New Orleans Fringe Festival, November 11-15 at the Marigny Theater 2240 St. Claude Ave.

A Music Video on Stage is the best description for this visually stunning tribute to Erykah Badu. Four talented performers, Zena Moses, Stylist B, Jeanetta Thomas and Juliette Ducre will wow audience members with song and skits motivated by the rousing lyrics of “The Queen of Neosoulfunkinizms.”   A Must See!

Badu-Izms: A Tribute to Erykah was chosen as one of the featured 40 shows at this year’s festival from among several hundred entry submissions.

The New Orleans Fringe Festival, November 11-15, will be an extraordinary five days of theater, performance art and spectacle.  Forty groups from around the country and New Orleans will be presenting over 120 shows in venues across the city. The shows include the exotic, the dramatic and the insane: drama, dance, one-person shows, cabaret, comedy, puppetry, clowning, improvisational, aerialist and many other creative works.

Venues include traditional theaters as well as unusual spaces: Marigny Theatre, Sidearm Gallery, Hi-Ho Lounge, Church of the Fringe, Skull Club, Peter's Piano Place, Backyard Ballroom and others.

All performances are $7 each and run between 30 and 60 minutes.  Tickets are available online at www.nofringe.org, www.ticketweb.com, at the door before each show, or at the Fringe Festival Tent during the festival.  The Fringe Festival Tent is the heart of the Festival; it is a big-top where audience members and performers can mingle over refreshments, read audience reviews, and enjoy free entertainment; it will be located at the corner of Press and Dauphine Streets in the Marigny.

Pamela Davis-Noland is the author and playwright of the Novel and hit Stage Play: Coffee-Colored Dreams. She has also written several other bodies of work including The Unacquainted: A Gospel Stage Play, and has recently completed her latest novel Tuesday Summer of ’74.
